Booster doses
Anyone who had their second dose more than 6 months ago and is aged 18 and over is eligible for a free booster dose. You’ll find a poster and handout to promote this attached and on HealthPathways: COVID-19 Vaccination Resources under Health professionals resources > NRHCC > Booster dose.
Co-administration of COVID-19 and other scheduled vaccines
If you’re a vaccinating GP clinic or pharmacy, most other scheduled or catch-up vaccinations can be provided at the same time as COVID-19 vaccinations. The only exception is the Zostavax (shingles) vaccine where a 7-day gap between this vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine is necessary.
Please review your current COVID-19 vaccination bookings to check to see if a patient is due or eligible for other vaccines.
Attached is a poster and handout for patients to support these conversations, as well as a factsheet for clinicians. These resources are also on HealthPathways: COVID-19 Vaccination Resources, under Health professionals resources > NRHCC > COVID-19 vaccination with other vaccinations.
Supporting disabled people with their COVID-19 vaccination decision
The Personal Advocacy and Safeguarding Adults Trust (PASAT) has a grant from the Ministry of Health to provide a free service to disabled people to support them with their decision to get COVID-19 vaccinated. This includes people with a learning disability, neurodiversity or cognitive impairment.
Anyone can make a referral for this free service. For more information, call 0800 728 7878 or go to: www.advocacy@PASAT.org.nz.
