With the potential rollout to children aged 5 to 11-years-old, NRHCC is running a webinar aimed at vaccinators and site/clinic leads who have not previously immunised this age group before, to help them prepare. Register now.

The webinar will provide tips to engage with young children and their parents to make them feel comfortable and create a positive vaccination experience. This will include: different approaches, the type of hold, using age appropriate language and tools to assist vaccination. There will be the opportunity to ask questions at the end.

Jean McQueen, Nurse Director for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, will host the webinar. The speakers will include:

• Alex Long, a Nurse Educator at NRHCC. Alex has trained over 100 COVID-19 vaccinators since April 2021. She also co-ordinates the Registered Nurse Prescribing in Community Health Programme in Metro Auckland two days a week. Alex has a background in public health and is an authorised vaccinator and clinical assessor.
• Fiona Murray, a Nurse Educator with the WDHB PHC Nursing Development team and also the NRHCC for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, since April 2021. Fiona has a background in Practice Nursing and Paediatrics.
