Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in New Zealand. Since the introduction of CVD Guidelines Auckland PHO doctors and nurses have been providing CVD risk assessments to people eligible (based on age, gender and ethnicity) and tailoring management to the person’s estimated CVD risk using medications and lifestyle advice.
People with known heart disease can be treated with simple interventions and available medications. Your doctor will talk to you about preventing and treating heart disease.
