Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) & Support

Auckland PHO provides free education and support programmes for people with diabetes through Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) workshops.

Attend the workshop as a 1-day session or over three 2½-hour sessions. We offer workshops in the morning or evening and in several locations. We also hold courses presented in other languages.

We cover:

  • What is Type 2 Diabetes?
  • Healthy eating + food labelling
  • Physical activity
  • How to stop/control the effects of diabetes on the rest of the body (heart, eyes, kidneys, nerves, feet)
  • Medications – how do they work?
  • Blood tests- what do they mean?
  • Goal setting

Food provided, whanau welcome!
