Update on Rapid Antigen Tests in Primary Care

The Ministry of Health has recently published an Interim Guidance Framework for the Provision of Rapid Antigen Screening for COVID-19 in Clinical and Non-Clinical Settings.
The Northern Region Health Coordination Centre (NRHCC) is working with the Ministry of Health and will be engaging with regional stakeholders to develop more detailed regional guidance on implementing Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) in the Northern Region.
This work will provide local guidance on:
- Recommended use of RATs e.g. who should be tested, when and how often;
- Who needs to be involved in administering RATs and training and supervision for those people;
- Process for recording RATs and results; and
- Actions to be taken following a positive RAT.
The NRHCC will provide further updates over the coming days on how we can use RATs effectively in the Northern Region to help keep our workforce, patients and communities safe.
